Bath & West Show report

Thanks to Emma Collings our Secretary for the following write up on Bath & West Show;


Bath & West is the biggest West Country show for pigs, with over 400 entries including a very strong entry of British Lop from Catherine and Lilly Nicholas with the Catrin herd, Giles Eustice with the Bezurrell herd and the Collings family with the Liskeard herd. A very good show enjoyed by all.

The first day of showing held the breed classes judged by Ken Matthews, first class was the July boars which was won by Bezurrell Supreme 11 and in second place was Bezurrell Supreme 12. Then it was onto the January boars where Bezurrell Supreme 13 came through in first with Bezurrell Duke 11 coming in second and Bezurrell Supreme 14 landing 3rd.

Bezurrell Supreme 13 went on to take Male champion with Bezurrell Supreme 11 reserve male. In the female classes Giles took first in the sow class with Bezurrell Actress 263.

It was then onto the strong class of July gilts which was won by the Collings family with Knighton Queen with second place going to the Collings family with Knighton Queen 2. September gilts class was won by Bezurrell Actress 344 with Bezurrell actress 345 taking second place.

Another strong class of January gilts was won by Bezurrell Actress 351 with Bezurrell Actress 350 taking second. Female championship was taken by Knighton Queen with the sow Bezurrell actress 263 taking reserve.

The Champion British Lop went to the Collings family with Knighton Queen, with Giles Eustice taking reserve breed champion with Bezurrell supreme 11, along with the title of best group of three British Lops.


The second day of showing hosted the interbreed championship which was judged by Mr Mulkeen; Knighton Queen (pictured) took the reserve Champion white pig.
