First results of the season are in!

The first show results for the season are in and what a show the British Lops had....

Hayley Lake and her team attended South Suffolk Show, entering several classes with the four pigs they took, helped by son Jack and his girlfriend Kayla with the showing, training and washing.

Hayley comments: “It was Kayla’s first time at a pig show, so it was all very new to her. She was so nervous but she did really well and won her first class with a September gilt, Guist Harmony. She also went on to win ‘Best Lop in Show’ with the same gilt, plus a trophy for ‘Best Pig from Minority Breeds’.”

As if that was not success enough Kayla also won ‘Champion Breeding Pig’ and a tankard for ‘Stockperson in Charge’ of the champion breeding pig!

Understandably Kayla was completely amazed by it all and could not believe the number of rosettes she won, so huge congratulations to Kayla on her first show experience.

Hayley’s son Jack also won his class with the sow Catrin Lulu 12th, and both Jack and Kayla entered the young handlers class, with Jack scooping the cup for ‘Champion Young Handler’ which he was very happy to win.

Hayley was naturally incredibly pleased with how the showing turned out and says: “We had a brilliant day at the show, and it was really good to see everyone again after not being able to show last year. Both Kayla and Jack did really well, and Kayla can’t wait until her next show; she’s definitely got the show bug now!”

Hayley’s champion gilt came from Bezurrell Harmony 4 which she had purchased previously at the Society Show and Sale held at Melton Mowbray in September.

Well done Hayley and what a pleasure to hear about young handlers getting involved, enjoying the shows...and winning!
