Suffolk Show Results

22 June 2015

Thanks to Emma Edgar for the following write up on Suffolk Show, held 27th - 28th May 2015;

The weather was kind, despite the forecast. With only two Lop exhibitors, we were amalgamated with all other white breeds. The competition was very strong, but the Lops held their own.

On the first day of showing, under the watchful eye of Brian Card, Hayley Lake won the sow class with Catrin Lulu 12, who went on to take reserve breed champion.  Hayley also claimed 3rd in the senior boar class with Guist Supreme and 2nd in the September class with a very smart gilt, Guist Actress 2.  In the January classes, Mark and Emma had a 1st with their gilt, Bakers Actress 35 who went on to be breed champion. Their other gilt, Bakers Queen 2 was a respectful 3rd. The boar class was won by Bakers Cornishman 2.

Day 2 saw yet more good competition. The pairs classes were split between coloured and white pigs.  The pair from the Edgar camp were winners of their section and went on to gain the overall pairs championship.

In the pig of the year heats, Bakers Cornishman 2 won the traditional section, earning his place at Yorkshire, with Bakers Actress 35 narrowly missing out with the reserve in her section.

The Lop of the Year qualifiers were:
Bakers Cornishman 2
Bakers Actress 35

The show was very much enjoyed by all.
